My experience of reading Bhagavad Gita is wonderful and beneficial. I’ve started reading the Bhagavad Gita in my early 20s.
As a youngster, I enjoy reading the Bhagavad Gita because I have learned about so many aspects of life by reading and understanding Gita.
In my current blog, I would like to share my experience of reading the Bhagavad Gita.
My Experience of Reading Bhagavad Gita Is Wonderful
In my teenage, I used to think that Bhagavad Gita would not be interesting. I thought that it would be only for elders. But when I started to read it my perception totally changed.
I’ve realized that one should start reading the Bhagavad Gita at an early age to understand life even better. In simple words, I can say that the experience of the Gita is like moving from darkness to light if one understands it well.
My 15 Personal Experiences of Reading Bhagavad Gita
Let me share what and how I felt after reading the Bhagavad Gita and how it helped me in my life.
1. Bhagavad Gita is Helping Me to Understand My Potential
Bhagavad Gita helps to understand and discover oneself one who reads it. Many times I have self-doubt and worry about the future. But reading Gita is helping me to understand the potential of a human being.
Many times due to peer pressure and due to comparison you may think that you are not worthy. But that’s not true. Every human being is worthy and has more potential to grow in life.
Bhagavad Gita talks about energy and soul. This is helping me to think in a different way and look at my own life from a different perspective. So, one can get this understanding by reading books like Bhagavad Gita.
2. The Immediate Result of Reading The Bhagavad Gita was Feeling Calm and Peaceful
When I read a few initial chapters of the Bhagavad Gita for the first time I felt so calm and peaceful. And many people also have similar types of experiences of reading the Gita.
Ultimately, the Bhagavad Gita reveals the truth about life and living by helping us to connect with ourselves. This makes us feel calm and at peace.
And, if one is facing a lot of difficulties in life and the mind is cluttered with many times then one can feel the calmness within by reading it.
3. I’m Understanding More About the Right Karma After Reading the Bhagavad Gita
We all face some situations in life where we feel it is difficult to understand what is right and what is wrong. We sometimes choose the wrong path knowingly or unknowingly.
Bhagavad Gita guides about the right karma. And also you will understand that doing work is in your hands but you should not bother about the results.
Bhagavad Gita taught me to focus on doing the right karma and I will get the results accordingly. If you understand all these things in your life, it will be easy for you in your career as well.
4. My Journey of Spirituality has Begun with the Right Understanding by Reading the Gita
All of us are spiritual beings. Well, being spiritual does not mean that you should become a monk. Spirituality is something that helps us to connect with our own self and to the universe.
When I started to read the Bhagavad Gita I started to understand so many things about body, mind and spirit. This helped me to begin my spiritual journey.
And I felt that when I’m able to know and understand all these in about life, I could lead a meaningful life. It helps to serve well to mankind.
5. I started to Embrace Objectivity in My Life by Understanding Krishna’s Thoughts in the Bhagavad Gita
Bhagavad Gita is nothing but a powerful conversation between two people. That is between Krishna and Arjuna. Arjuna was in confusion and emotionally he would take the wrong decisions.
But Krishna made Arjuna understand and think objectively. Many times we all make decisions based on emotions. So, Bhagavad Gita teaches us about thinking objectively.
I understood the importance of balancing emotions and being objective in life by reading the Bhagavad Gita. Now I understand that objectivity should be there while making any decisions.
6. I’ve Come to Know About Food Babits and Diet as Bhagavad Gita Includes this Topic
Many times we become health and fitness conscious. It’s a good thing. But in Bhagavad Gita, you will learn about different types of food and how they affect the body.
So, by reading the Bhagavad Gita I’ve come to know about the categories of food. Also, how they affect health.
Well, Bhagavad Gita will not force you or impose which type of food habits you should follow but it has explained the food categories and their effects on the body and mind.
7. Bhagavad Gita is Making Me Understand the Basic Philosophy of Life
To be honest, I read Bhagavad Gita not as a religious book but as a philosophy of life. I’m not the only one who says it but many people have found it as a philosophy of life.
I’ve started to understand the basic philosophy of life by reading Bhagavad Gita. Krishna has explained so many things in a very effective way in this book.
So, the Bhagavad Gita is more than a religious book and anyone can read this to understand life.
8. Bhagavad Gita Helping Me to Understand the Importance of Controlling the Mind
Our mind wanders here and there. Many times we feel that the mind is full of unwanted, unnecessary thoughts. Bhagavad Gita helps to balance your mind and think in a proper direction.
I’m not saying that just by reading the verses of Gita you will get superpowers and your mind will be clutter-free. But whenever you feel low, sad or disturbed just try to recall the lessons from Bhagavad Gita.
Many times we indulge in pleasures playing games on mobile, entertainment etc. So, the Bhagavad Gita helps to understand the importance of self-control.
9. I’ve Improved My Decision Makings by Reading Gita
In everyday life, we have to take decisions in life. It may be related to studies, career, personal life or professional life. Our decision-making capacity will help us to have a bright future.
Bhagavad Gita is helping me to improve my decision-making. When I simplify my life and have a clutter-free mind I can make the right decisions for myself.
And learning to take charge of my own life and learning to make decisions is empowering me..
10. Bhagavad Gita Answering My Questions Which I Seek the Truth of Life
Bhagavad Gita teaches you the way of living life. When you know about your own self and when you understand the reality ad truth of life you can lead a meaningful life.
I have so many questions related to life, the purpose of life etc. When I read Bhagavad Gita every time it helps me to seek answers or brings me one step close to the answer.
As I started to understand life, reality and the right karma it is helping me to look at this world with compassion. My understanding somehow reflects on my actions. So, I’m able to simplify my life.
11. Bhagavad Gita Helps to Handle Loneliness and to Feel the Joy Within
Due to our lifestyle changes youngsters, many times feel that they are lonely. They don’t feel the motivation. But reading Bhagavad Gita makes us realize that we are not lonely.
Gita teaches us about universal energy and how we are connected to each other. When you understand your true self and begin your spiritual journey you will find the joy within. I’m not saying that I used to feel lonely and I read Gita.
But I started to read it as a philosophy of life and it has brought so much clarity in my mind about my own self. I can say that when I feel sad my thoughts move towards positivity because of Bhagavad Gita.
12. Bhagavad Gita Somehow Reduced the Fear of the Future
Students have their own fears like careers, studies, etc. Reading Bhagavad Gita relaxes your mind and reduces the unnecessary fears in life.
I too had and have many types of fear as a normal person has. And one common fear many of us face is the fear related to the future and uncertainties. So, as Gita helped me to understand the basics of spirituality I’ve overcome some fears.
So, gradually I started to understand that I don’t need to lead a fearful life. You started to understand that our good karma will lead to a better future and I don’t need to worry too much.
13. Bhagavad Gita Boosting My Inner Strength at The Level of Mind
In the external world, we may acquire a lot of knowledge and information but our inner strength is necessary to face difficult situations in life. Gita helps in that.
As I’m learning to apply objectivity, overcome fears, understand spirituality etc. All these lessons from Bhagavad Gita are boosting my inner strength.
At the level of mind and thoughts, I felt that there are a lot of changes in me when I compare the old version of myself with the new version of myself.
14. I Started to Look at My own Life with More Positivity By Understanding Krishna’s Thoughts
So many things affect our thoughts and thinking process. It’s so important to feed our minds with good and positive information.
Bhagavad Gita started to feed my mind good information and triggered positive thoughts in a better way.
As I started to understand about mind, life and spirituality, it helped me to give a new direction to my thoughts. Well, when thoughts move in positive directions life becomes more meaningful.
15. My Questioning Habit has Increased after Reading Bhagavad Gita
Well, philosophy starts with questions. If you look at the Bhagavad Gita it is also a question-answer between Arjuna and Lord Krishna.
When I started to read the Bhagavad Gita many questions popped up in my head and my curiosity to understand soul, mind, life has increased.
This is how the curiosity to know more has increased by questions habits after reading Bhagavad Gita. The self-inquiry is also increased a lot.
Reading Bhagavad Gita in My Regional Language Enhanced My Experience
I’ve been reading the Bhagavad Gita in my regional language. I have preferred a book that includes Sanskirt verses along with translated meaning in my language.
It has helped me to understand the meaning very well. When I can understand the meaning of each word then only I can understand it right. So, it affected my overall experience of reading the Bhagavad Gita.
Reading Bhagavad Gita in Your Regional Language is Good for Better Experience
You can read the Bhagavad Gita in the English language. There are many books where you find Sanskirt Slokas of Gita with English translation.
But if you are someone who knows any regional language then read it in regional language. Reading the Bhagavad Gita in your regional language will help you to understand it better.
The book “Bhagavad Gita As It Is” is available in English as well as in many other regional languages like Kannada, Hindi, Tamil etc. When you read it in your own language you understand the meaning very well with a better experience.
Bhagavad Gita is Suitable to All the Age Group
It does not matter if you are a teenager or in your 20s or in your 60s, you can start reading the Bhagavad Gita any time. Well, I’ve started reading it in my early 20s. My experience was great and I’ve learned so many life lessons from it.
I felt that I could have started earlier to read Bhagavad Gita because it would help me in my teenage as well. But I can say that this book has something to offer to all age groups. That’s the beauty of this book.
